Recently I did a try-out of a new Serious Game that I am developing.
That was at the amazing Agile Coach Camp NL, where I have been a regular visitor for ten years.
The game helps teams gain more insight into complex problems, with… Tarot cards.
And not just any Tarot cards, but Lord-of-the-Rings Tarot cards, which adds a light-hearted element to a possible serious matter.
This first play test was very successful! With the help of the testers, I adjusted (and removed!) some elements during the game, and gained insights that allow me to make the game even more powerful.
Why Tarot? Perhaps because the universe always hands us exactly the right card. 😉
But also because linking random symbolism to your complex problem ensures that you can break away from your current frameworks of thought and discover new perspectives.
And of course it happened that the sharpest insight came from the very last card that stood for: “The Missing Element”. The drawn card told exactly what was still needed to get things moving!
